The National Roadway Council on Monday began a second stage of improvements to the Florencio del Castillo Highway, which connects eastern San José with Cartago.

Workers are replacing a base layer of the highway as well as improving the road’s drainage system in Ochomogo, in front of the vehicle weighing station.

The project has an estimated cost of ₡250 million ($485,000) and is the continuation of previous work to replace he road’s surface and repair cracks.

Starting this week, the Public Works and Transport Ministry will implement one-way traffic flow during rush hours to ensure the project is completed by April 4 as planned.
