Salary negotiations for private-sector workers are set to resume Monday at 4 p.m. between unions, employers and government authorities.
Unions are proposing 4.96-5.96 percent biannual raises, while employers want 2.47 percent raises and the government is seeking 3 percent.
Union representative Edgar Morales said President Laura Chinchilla’s administration promised last year to add 1.46 percent of accumulative inflation from October, November and December to this year’s raise rates.
Labor Minister Sandra Piszk said the government never promised to include the inflation rate in this period’s hike, and they would use the adjustment formula approved last year.
