New, higher fuel prices go into effect Thursday

The new fuel-price list approved by the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) was published Wednesday in the official newspaper La Gaceta, and will go into effect Thursday.

The per-liter price is now ₡756 ($1.50) for super gasoline, ₡718 ($1.40) for plus gasoline and ₡636 ($1.27) for diesel.

Plus gasoline is the most consumed fuel in Costa Rica. When a vehicle’s tank is filled with an average of 45 liters of plus, drivers will have to pay ₡1,530 ($3) more than they paid before. The previous per-liter price of plus gasoline was ₡684 ($1.36).

September automatic-adjustment calculations are based on international price variations.
