Canada donates $800,000 to Police Academy

Canadian Foreign Minister Diane Ablonczy met Friday with President Laura Chinchilla and other government ministers to discuss political and commerce issues and to receive an $800,000 donation of equipment for the National Police Academy.

The donation to the Police Academy was received by San José Mayor Johnny Araya.

In August 2011, Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper also visited Costa Rica and agreed to begin negotiations to update a free trade agreement between the two countries, which was signed in April 2001.
