Salvadoran Police Arrested for Helping U.S. Bounty Hunters

SAN SALVADOR (EFE) – ThreeSalvadoran policemen are under arrest,charged with helping three U.S. bountyhunters capture another Salvadoran andship him out of the country.A National Civil Police source confirmedthe arrests of Sgt. Luis Pérez, Cpl.Olegario Maximiliano Hernandez and officerCarlos Alfredo Ramírez, who workedat Metropolitan Regional Investigationheadquarters, where they were arrestedOct. 18.They are accused of detaining JulioCesar Nerio, 55, on Oct. 14. The man issaid to be wanted in the U.S. state ofNevada on charges of raping a minor.The officers turned Nerio over to U.S.citizens Mark Allen Pruter, Robert LeeSuckoll and Erick Jackson Lippincott, whokept him handcuffed in a San Salvador hoteluntil Saturday, when they took him in a taxito Comalapa International Airport near SanSalvador in order to fly him to the UnitedStates.The U.S. citizens tried to pass themselvesoff as FBI agents to airport authorities,but failed and were arrested.According to Salvadoran police, themen worked for a private bounty huntingorganization in the United States.
