Canadian Club Announces Canada Day Festivities

Canadians and friends of Canadians are invited to join in the celebration of Canada’s 142nd birthday organized by the Canadian Club of Costa Rica at the end of June. The festivities will take place June 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Club Campestre Español in La Ribera de Belén, west of San José.

The fun will include swimming, soccer, face painting, bouncy castles, mini-golf, tennis, pool tables, cribbage games, a tugof-war and more. Attendees may enjoy free time in the two heated pools and hot tub from 1 to 4 p.m.

The delicious menu will feature classic cookout food followed by the traditional red-and-white Maple Leaf Canadian Birthday Cake. Entertainment, games, dancing, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing will round out the day’s activities.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and cost ¢7,500 ($13) for adults and ¢6,000 ($10.50) for children. For tickets and information, contact Out of Bounds Hotel and TouristCenter in the western suburb of Escazú at 2288-6762 or mermatt@amnet.co.cr, or the Association of Residents of Costa Rica in San José at 2233-8068.

The Canadian Club was established in Costa Rica in 1997 as both a social club for the expat community and a conduit for charitable outreach activities. Its main areas of assistance throughout the country are schools, day care centers, senior housing, abandoned elderly and indigenous programs.
