Quepos / Manuel Antonio Tidings

We have a new campsite in the area called Casa de Rasta. The campsite is a beachfront farm with flora, fauna and organic edibles. A horseback-riding facility borders the camping area and tours are available. The North American owners, Ben & Lori Whitefield, live on the site and cater to their clients in a natural exotic setting. The practically deserted beach is in their backyard and has the best waves for surfing in the area. (They offer surfing lessons and board rental, too.) Find them just outside of Quepos about a 20-minute walk from downtown.

Casa de Rasta staff members meet their clients in Quepos and walk them to the location, passing through the estuary on a small ferry. They offer tent rentals at $7 per person, per night, with rain shelter ranchitos for each tent. Also, you’ll find an outdoor toilet, sink and shower. They also offer a small restaurant that serves homemade pizza and fresh fruit smoothies. It sounds good and might even be fun for us year-round residents! For more information and reservations, call 8918-9948 or write to casaderasta@hotmail.com.

A sad farewell to Gene Maxey, who is leaving Quepos after living here for quite a long time. He has been a great asset to our community, and he will be missed! Bon voyage and best wishes Gene!
