Fifth edition of Expo Verde set for April

Expo Verde, a fair promoting environmentally friendly products and services, will be held April 8-11 at the INBioparque in Santo Domingo de Heredía, just north of San José. The fifth edition of the four-day fair, which is being organized by the Corcovado Foundation, will bring together 30 companies and organizations dedicated to limiting their impact on the environment and promoting sustainable practices.

The participants in this year´s Expo Verde will display and present their products and services, which include organic products, alternative energy sources, methods to limit consumption of electricity, environmentally friendly chemicals and water treatment systems. For the first time in the five years that the fair has been held, tourism companies dedicated to sustainable practices will also attend the expo.

“This year we have a special feature that will focus on businesses in the tourism sector,” Paula Lafuente, the executive assistant at the Corcovado Foundation told the Tico Times. “Hotels and other members of the tourism industry that are committed to being environmental friendly will present what they have been doing at the expo.”

Expo Verde will also feature workshops for the public, including activities for children, presented by members of the Rainforest Alliance, travel agencies, hotel operators and other businesses participating in the fair.

The entrance fee to enter the park and attend the Expo Verde has bet set at ¢ 3,450.
