COLORFUL allegations of strange activity, including nudity, and a massive concentration of more than 700 people mostly foreigners drew the eyes of police, immigration and child-welfare officials in early March to the Southern Zone for the One World Rainbow Gathering. Visitors from around the world participated in the camping gathering, which promoted peace and well-being from the full moon March 6 to the full moon April 5, 45 kilometers southwest of the southern mountain town San Vito. Initial reports sparked concern among government agencies that the event was characterized by rampant drug use and unsafe conditions for children. However, upon a peaceful inspection, approximately 50 officers and welfare officials found hygienic care for children and adults, no immigration violations, and a peaceful, law-abiding group.
