Police Confiscate 949 Kilos Of Cocaine in December

MANAGUA – Police last month confiscated a total of 949 kilos of cocaine, 4 kilos of heroin, 384 grams of crack and 7,312 grams of marijuana, in addition to 15,000 marijuana plants, according to police sources.

The police also confiscated more than $5,400 from drug dealers.

The largest drug bust of the month occurred Dec. 30 on the Costa Rican border crossing of Peñas Blancas, when police confiscated 671 kilograms of cocaine from a truck being driven north to the United States by a Guatemalan man.

The police in December also confiscated 152 illegal firearms, including assault rifles and grenade launchers left over from the war in the 1980s.
