Disabled Golfers Receive Free Lessons

SWINGS will be improved, concentration sharpened and overall performance enhanced later this month at a free golf clinic offered by the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel for those already expert in overcoming physical challenges.The Challenge Golf clinic, which has been offered monthly since June, looks to utilize the intricacies of the game of golf to help physically disabled people “find new hope to overcome difficulties, improve motor skills and achieve greater motivation,” according to a press release issued by the hotel.The workshop is taught by instructors José Quesada and Joey Ludeman, both of whom are certified by the Professional Golf Assocation (PGA).“We’re really helping people with disabilities to have an opportunity to participate in more physical activities,” Quesada said. “This is a program that families can come and participate in as well. Our students have been enjoying it very much.”Open to anyone over the age of 12 with a disability, the next clinic will be held Oct. 22 at 10 a.m., at the Marriott Hotel in San Antonio de Belén, northwest of San José.For more information, call the hotel at 298-0000.
