Steven Seagal Seeks to Bring Film Production to C.R.

U.S. action movie star, director and martial artist Steven Seagal met with President Oscar Arias last week to discuss the possibility of exemptions and incentives to bring film production projects to Costa Rica, the daily La Nación reported.

“I’ve had detailed conversations with my team and with experts in Hollywood about how to come to Costa Rica and create incentives and exemptions for people who come to film (here),” Seagal told the daily.

“My team and experts are now ready to carry this out in Costa Rica.”

After speaking with Arias – who makes a habit of meeting with visiting celebrities, including Mel Gibson and Ricky Martin in recent years – Seagal said he is determined to invest in the country as soon as possible, La Nación reported.

Perhaps best known for his spate of 1990s action films, including “Hard to Kill” “Out for Justice” and “Under Siege,” Seagal is a noted martial artist with a black belt in aikido, as well as a singer-songwriter.
