Companies Announce 5,000 New Jobs

Sixteen international businesses have announced that they plan to open or expand operations in Costa Rica, creating 5,000 new jobs for those who speak a second language, according to the Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives (CINDE).

These companies – Agilis Engineering, Alienware, Baxter, Dole, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, IBM, ICT Group, Intel,Western Union, Isthmus, Language Line, Procter & Gamble, PeopleSupport, Qualfon and Sykes – hope to hire people who speak English, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Mandarin and Cantonese.

At a job fair July 28-30, the companies will look to fill positions in administration, accounting, customer service, programming, system engineering, mechanics, electrical engineering, customs, software and technical support.

To be hired, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in a second language and knowledge of the Internet and computer software.
