Operation Rich Coast holding ‘CleanUp for the Oceans’ this weekend

Operation Rich Coast, a grassroots project focused on beach and ocean cleanliness, is hosting its third annual beach cleanup across Costa Rica.

Saturday morning’s “National Cleanup for the Oceans” includes 47 locations across Costa Rica where volunteers will gather to help reduce the amount of garbage on the country’s beaches.

Last year, approximately 1,200 volunteers collected nearly 9 tons of waste during the event.

Per its website, “Operation Rich Coast seeks to reduce the amount of litter that ends up in our oceans, protecting the health of all species that depend on and enjoy the sea.”

Watch a promotional video for the event below, and click here to find the cleanup site closest to you. Locations also include rivers and metropolitan volunteer locations in San José and the Central Valley.
