CNE evaluating damages after heavy rains in Guanacaste

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) has begun evaluating damages after heavy rainfall damaged infrastructure and forced some evacuations in northern Costa Rica.

In the province of Guanacaste, and particularly in the northern Nicoya Peninsula, at least 25 roads have sustained significant damage, CNE said.

In addition, the organization has established five shelters that are currently providing temporary housing for 85 people.

Residents of Nosara, Guanacaste shared the following photos of road and river conditions on Monday night:

CNE said Tuesday that the yellow and green alerts remain in effect throughout Costa Rica, but much of the national territory awoke to drier weather on Wednesday.

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) says that the low-pressure system is moving away from Costa Rica and is predicting sunnier skies Wednesday.
