Costa Rica airport wins service quality award

Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport has seen dramatic passenger growth over the past 15 years, and it hasn’t come at the expense of quality.

Costa Rica’s second-busiest airport has earned an Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for Latin America and the Caribbean based on its short waiting times, check-in efficiency, the security process, and friendliness and courtesy of its workers.

Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR), also known as Liberia International Airport, beat out other mid-size airports in the region (less than 2 million passengers per year). The award is based on passenger surveys.

The ceremony was held at the World Customer Experience Global Summit in Bali, Indonesia.

Liberia International Airport, which serves northern Costa Rica, is one of the country’s two international airports that receives scheduled service. A major driver of tourism to the Nicoya Peninsula and Guanacaste province, it welcomed more than 1.1 million travelers in 2018.
