Costa Rica soccer to face Uruguay at National Stadium

Costa Rica’s men’s national soccer team will face Uruguay on Friday, Sept. 6, in an international friendly at the National Stadium in La Sabana.

The South American side has already named its 24-man roster, which includes international stars Diego Godín, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez.

The match will bring together familiar foes. The two sides met in 2015 (a 1-0 Costa Rica victory) and in late 2014 (a 3-3 draw).

Costa Rica’s manager, Gustavo Matosas, is an Uruguayan international whose career included club and international appearances there.

And, of course, Costa Rica began its 2014 World Cup campaign with a stunning 3-1 victory over Uruguay. Let’s watch those highlights again, shall we?

Tickets to the Sept. 6 friendly are available at www.specialticket.net, authorized Servimás stalls, Hard Rock Café and Grupo Mutual. Prices start at 8,000 colones (about $14).
