Roma and Luda Gimelfarb returned to Costa Rica on the two-year anniversary of the disappearance of their son to offer a $100,000 reward for help in finding 29-year-old David Gimelfarb.
The parents, from Chicago, Illinois in the U.S., also announced they are in the initial stages of creating a non-profit organization that would assist families when a loved one is missing in a foreign country.
Gimelfarb disappeared on Aug. 11, 2009 in Rincón de la Vieja National Park in Costa Rica’s northwest Guanacaste province. Despite dozens of reported sightings of a dazed man that resembled Gimelfarb, no concrete evidence exists about his whereabouts. If you have any information email: gimelfarb@comcast.net.
The foundation will provide worldwide resources to find people who have gone missing outside of their native countries or countries of residence. The David Alexander Gimelfarb International Rescue Resources Foundation will provide resources to help with finances, search and rescue management and public relations.
The Gimelfarbs also met with the parents of Oscar Cruz, a 24-year-old park ranger, who disappeared in Volcán Poás National Park. Cruz has not turned up after two weeks of searches.
