Sarapiquí back in business

The Sarapiquí community acknowledges and thanks the United Nations Development Programme for its efforts and assistance during our 2009 post-earthquake recovery efforts.

As a result of this intervention, many of the hard-hit communities around Poás Volcano and the Sarapiquí River are feeling a ray of hope about long-term development and recovery efforts. Many believe the economic assistance received this last month will help them improve their way of life in their homes and communities.

Sarapiquí, where nature and adventure meet, is blessed both ecologically and in its hospitable and humble people. It’s at the core of the birding route and is home to renowned biological stations, nature reserves and adventure tours.

Visit the region using scenic Route 32 or venture out on the rustic Route 126, now open.
