Bitterness and beauty

One particular image from this morning’s story on a graffiti festival held on San Pedro’s Calle de la Amargura, or “Street of Bitterness,” near the University of Costa Rica, is so luscious that it needs to be savored on its own. The artist seems to melt into the wall he’s flooding with color in a collegiate neighborhood known for its head-turning murals, scribbles and unexpected flourishes.

If you’re in San José this week and need to get your creative juices flowing, there’s an east-side walk with your name on it.

Would you like to submit a photo to our #TTPicOfTheDay series – the view from your home or favorite Costa Rican spot, or any other image you care to share? Please send horizontal photos at least 1100 pixels wide to kstanley@ticotimes.net. We’d love to see the sights with you.
