Ticos show support for Hondurans as Tegucigalpa returns to normal

People gathered in the Costa Rican capital Wednesday to demonstrate their solidarity with the people of Honduras following their disputed Nov. 26 presidential election.

“Honduras deserves support for human rights,” one woman’s sign read. “Honduras: We want you FREE of injustice, fraud and repression,” read another.

After days of unrest, the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa was slowly returning to normal, with schools and universities opening their doors again.

Honduran electoral authorities concluded a recount Dec. 4, more than a week after a bitterly contested presidential election, that put incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernández in the lead. Supporters of his opponent, Salvador Nasralla, have protested the results.
