Chris Hemsworth Trains in Costa Rica Before Returning to Film

Chris Hemsworth has given his millions of followers a closer look at his recent Costa Rica getaway, sharing a workout video filmed during a break before production begins on his next major action movie. The Australian actor posted the video after spending time with his family along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Hemsworth had already been spotted surfing, walking along the beach and posing for photographs with fans during the trip.

In the video, Hemsworth says he is taking a short break in Costa Rica before beginning work on Extraction 3 in the coming weeks. He then completes a strength-training circuit using resistance bands and kettlebells, including curls, reverse fly exercises and other movements designed to prepare him for the physically demanding role.

Hemsworth described the session as taking place in the “blistering beautiful heat of Costa Rica” and tagged Centr, the fitness and wellness company he founded. The post is the clearest public acknowledgment of the trip from Hemsworth himself. Earlier photographs and videos of his visit had been shared by residents, tourists and fans who encountered him near the coast.

Hemsworth and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, arrived in Costa Rica in early July. During the following days, the family was seen around Santa Teresa and beach communities near Montezuma and Cabuya. Hemsworth was also reportedly seen surfing at Playa Lajas, where he stopped to take photographs with beachgoers.

The new video does not identify the exact location where the workout was recorded. It shows Hemsworth training outdoors in a tropical setting, continuing the combination of exercise, surfing and family time that has characterized the visit. The Costa Rica break comes shortly before Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake, the former Australian soldier and mercenary at the center of Netflix’s Extraction series.

Hemsworth, Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani are expected to return for Extraction 3. Sam Hargrave, who directed the first two movies, will also direct the third installment. A release date has not been announced. Hemsworth has long followed demanding training programs for his film roles, particularly for the Extraction movies and his appearances as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

His latest post also gives Costa Rica international exposure through one of Hollywood’s most followed actors, placing the beaches, tropical climate and outdoor lifestyle before a global audience.
