New fuel prices approved

The Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) on Monday approved an increase in the per-liter price of gasoline and a decrease in diesel.

The adjustment is a result of a calculation formula that takes into account international prices of each of the finished products according to the commodity exchange market in New York.

With new prices, Super gasoline will increase ₡28, and the per-liter price jumps from ₡739 to ₡767 ($1.47-$1.53).

Plus gasoline will cost ₡24 more, from ₡697 to ₡721 ($1.39-$1.44), while diesel will decrease by ₡8, from ₡658 to ₡650 ($1.31-$1.30) per liter.

New prices will take effect once they are published in the official newspaper La Gaceta, which is expected to occur later this week.
