Carnaval kicks off on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast

Limón’s annual Carnaval kicked off this week evening with performances and the crowning of the Carnaval queen.

Based around Columbus Day on October 12, the celebration features a week filled with partying, cultural activities and a carnival. The event culminates October 20 with a large parade.
