Airport police arrest U.S. woman with 61 pouches of cocaine

Costa Rican police on Saturday arrested a U.S. woman with 61 pouches of cocaine hidden in her underwear at Liberia’s Daniel Oduber International Airport, in the northwestern province of Guanacaste, where she attempted to board a flight to Belgium, Public Security Ministry sources reported.

The woman, identified by police as Obashi Kamelechi Kama, 24, arrived in Costa Rica on March 18 at the Juan Santamaría International Airport outside San José. According to police, a total of 748 grams were wrapped in toilet paper inside a paper bag, which she attached to her underwear.She was then taken to a hospital for X-ray examinations to determine if she has ingested any pouches, but results were negative.

She now faces charges for international drug trafficking.
