Startup airline Nica Air plans to begin operations in Nicaragua in either June or July with routes to Mexico City, Havana and Caracas.
Mario Salinas, president of the Nicaraguan Tourism Institute, said he hopes the Nica Air will be able to build on early success to expand its destinations to the United States, the Caribbean and other routes in Central America and South America.
The airline, which has a fleet of the Boeing 737-300, will begin by flying to Havana three times per week, according to a Nicaraguan government official. Nica Air was funded by investors from Nicaragua and Mexico.
