70-Year-Old Extradited To C.R. on Fraud Charges

The United States last week extradited Thomas Jafeck to Costa Rica, where he faces charges of financial fraud, Interpol said.

Jafeck, 70, shut down his Costa Rica Green company, an unregulated investment firm in the MercedesTower on Paseo Colón, in 2002. Authorities here issued arrest warrants for him, his son, Thomas II, 47, and wife, Billie Joe, 70, in 2004.

Jafeck was on the run for four years until police arrested him in Miami on July 28.

His alleged accomplices remain at large.
