Holiday Inn to Open Hotel, Mall in Liberia

U.S. hotel chain Holiday Inn Expresshas announced plans to invest $10 millionin the construction of a new hotel andmall in Liberia, capital of the north-westernprovince of Guanacaste.Increased tourism, business developmentand flights to Daniel Oduber InternationalAirport in Liberia were all factorsin the decision to undertake the new projects,according to the daily La República.The four-star, 120-room, 52,000-square-meter “Del Llano” hotel willinclude a convention center with a 600-person capacity. The hotel is designed tohelp solve the lack of hotel rooms inGuanacaste, currently at approximately400 rooms, the daily reported.The 4,320-square-meter mall willinclude room for 37 establishments andparking for 240 cars.Construction is expected to begin assoon as the project obtains the necessarybuilding permits. Holiday Inn Express alsoplans to build a golf course near the hotel,but that project is still being studied.
