Sculptors Make Progress on Marble Creations in Barva

SCULPTURE in Progress: A work of art takes shape under a cloud of marble dustand the hands of sculptor Tzeitel Hernández in the central park of Barva, a mountaintown northwest of San José. As part of the Second Annual National Sculptors’Symposium, nine sculptors began working on independent pieces two weeks agoafter being given identical blocks of marble. Hernández says her piece, inspired bythe theme of “duality,” will depict two columns, with the sun on one side and themoon on the other. The sculptors have until this Sunday to complete their works.
