Tourism Chamber Brings Added Security to Costa Rica Beach..

The Chamber of Tourism in Playa Sámara, Costa Rica, has agreed with the Ministry of Public Security to increase police presence during the tourism high season by adding six officers. This move, aimed at enhancing safety and security, follows collaborative efforts with local tourism figures, with the Chamber providing accommodations for the officers.

The presence of additional police will allow for more efficient handling of incidents and complaints, reducing the need for locals and tourists to travel for these services. Additionally, hotel staff will be trained to assist victims. Costa Rica Forecasts Steady Exchange Rates..

Analysts anticipate that the Costa Rican colón will stabilize in 2024 after appreciating 11% against the US dollar in 2023, closing at ₡522.39 per dollar last week. Economic experts foresee a potential exchange rate range between ₡550 to ₡535. While the colón’s appreciation is expected to continue, a gradual depreciation against the dollar is also predicted.

This will impact importers and debtors with dollar ties but benefit tourism and export businesses earning in dollars. Analysts advise that the colón’s rise should stabilize, allowing companies to plan effectively for pricing, supply chains, and financial obligations.

Costa Rica Debuts High-Tech Hub Safeguarding Marine Life..

Costa Rican officials recently launched a new satellite monitoring center at the National System of Conservation Areas headquarters in Heredia. Funded by the Blue Action Fund, WildAid, and Island Conservation, the center aims to enhance conservation and surveillance in marine protected areas, including Cocos Island National Park. Equipped with advanced technology for real-time vessel tracking and data integration, the facility will enforce regulations in no-take zones and fishing areas.
