Costa Rica’s main electricity supplier asks for big rate hike

Costa Rica's publicly-owned National Power and Light Company is requesting an increase in electricity rates that could raise basic rates for its customers by 36 percent.

Consumers rejoice: Metropolitan water rates set to decrease on July 1

In a couple days, customers of the Costa Rican Water and Sewer Institute (AyA) will see a decrease in their monthly water bills thanks to a 26 percent decrease in tap water rates and a 13 percent drop in sewage service rates that will take effect on Wednesday, July 1.

ICE to stop printing monthly bills

ICE will send electronic invoices, and the company is asking customers to register email addresses at its website: kolbi.cr or at any kölbi store, ICE location or via the customer service hotline 1193. Customers also can call ICE’s automated system at 1187.
