Costa Rica’s ex-culture and youth vice minister appears semi-nude on cover of Spanish mag

This week’s edition of Spanish magazine Interviú features a sexy cover photograph and an interview with Karina Bolaños, Costa Rica’s former vice minister of youth and culture. Bolaños was fired after an erotic video appeared online.

In the interview Bolaños criticized the lack of support from President Laura Chinchilla.

“Chinchilla has protected other politicians with similar cases and that’s because she only protects the corrupt,” Bolaños said.

She also said the president “is sexist for judging her private life and that the whole firing process was a violation of her privacy.”

Communications Minister, Francisco Chacón, dismissed Bolaños accusations and said that they were “totally unfounded” and added that “for us the issue of Ms. Bolaños is a closed chapter.” Culture Minister Manuel Obregón, said the report in the Spanish magazine “is detrimental only to the former vice minister.”

On July 30, a self-made video of Bolaños on her bed, wearing lingerie and flirting with the camera, while speaking to an unknown lover, appeared in social networks and news shows around the world.

A few hours later President Chinchilla dismissed her from her post.
