Numbering of San José streets starts Thursday

Signs with the numbers and names of each street and avenue will being appearing in the capital on Thursday, according to San José Municipality.

The project’s goal — to provide a more accurate and easy method to locate an address in San José — will be met with some 16,000 signs placed at the corners and main buildings of the city.

The project was financed by two public banks (National Bank and Costa Rica Bank), so the signs will display the logo of these institutions. They covered project expenses of ₡600 million ($1.2 million).

The first stage of the labeling will begin along Paseo Colón in downtown San José. Authorities expect to finish the project within six months.
