The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported Sunday afternoon three temblors of moderate intensity in the northwestern province of Guanacaste.

All were recorded near the Nicoya Peninsula, with the first occurring at 2:38 p.m. at a magnitude-4.6 and a depth of 9 kilometers.

A 4.5-magnitude quake occurred at 3:05 p.m. at a depth of 18 km. Its epicenter was located near Soledad de Nandayure.

Less than an hour later, at 4:01 p.m., the third temblor happened, with a magnitude of 4.5 and an epicenter 15 km southwest of Puerto Carrillo, Hojancha.
