CNFL gets solar air conditioning

Private company Energy Saver Costa Rica last week began installing the country’s first solar-powered air conditioning units in National Power and Light Company (CNFL) buildings, according to company spokesman Mario Savard. The first units were installed in CNFL facilities in Los Anonos, in western San José. The company hopes to install more units in other government facilities in the near future.

The air conditioning units are made by Sedna Aire and based on a U.S. innovation that uses solar energy to help reduce electrical bills related to air conditioning by 50 percent each month for up to 15 years, according to Sedna Aire.
