Volcanic marathon, classic theater, and other happenings around Costa Rica

Irazú Marathon

It’s an active volcano and one of the tallest mountains in Costa Rica. Only a true athlete would think, “I want to run up that.” The Irazú Marathon has become an annual tradition, combining trail-running, adventure-racing, and extreme changes in altitude. Whether you decide to take the challenge or root from the sidelines, this race is the perfect excuse to hang out in one of Costa Rica’s most scenic alpine settings.

The Indian Community Center in Costa Rica presents a traditional “Holi” festival, with subcontinental food, activities, and hurling of multicolored powder.

Theater: Night of One-Acts

The Little Theater Group of Costa Rica presents two one-act plays by some of the most famous dramatists in the English language.

Una Noche Express

This massive one-night art festival incorporates dance, theater, and the music of Santos y Zurdo and Foli Percusión Africana, among others.

Anime Exhibit

To celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations with Costa Rica, the Japanese embassy presents an exhibit on Japanese cartoon art at the National Gallery.
