Guerrilla Legend’s Plane Crashes in Nicaragua

MANAGUA – A small plane owned by former Sandinista revolutionary hero turned-Contra, Edén “Comandante Cero” Pastora, crashed in a Managua neighborhood, but the four people aboard were not injured, officials said Sunday.

The former guerrilla commander was not aboard the aircraft when it went down in the northern Managua neighborhood of Acahualinca June 9.

Pastora’s plane landed nose first in a sandy bank after suffering engine problems and was rendered inoperable by the accident.
