Nicaragua Ranks Most-Corrupt in Global Index

Nicaragua fell eight points in this year’s global corruption perception index to position 134 of 183 countries in the world, ranking it the most-corrupt country in Central America, according to Transparency International’s annual index, released this week. Nicaragua’s overall corruption rating was 2.5 out of 10, its lowest score since 2004, tying the country with Pakistan, Ukraine and Comoros.

The full report on Nicaragua won’t be released until Nov. 17, due to the upcoming Nov. 9 municipal elections.
