‘Animals and Heads of State’

“I want to show people here that garbage has value when an artist changes it,” says U.S. artist Kenneth Milestone, whose “Animals and Heads of State” exhibit is on display through Feb. 28 at the National Gallery. The exhibit features six large animal sculptures, including the frog pictured here, made out of plastic bags, bottle labels and other waste products. The National Gallery, inside the Children’s Museum in downtown San José, is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and weekends from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
