Comic Con Costa Rica 2026 to Showcase Local Fantasy and Science Fiction Authors

Fantasy, science fiction, and dystopian stories written by Costa Rican authors will take center stage at Comic Con Costa Rica 2026, bringing local literature to one of the most anticipated pop culture events. The convention will take place this Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, at the Costa Rica Convention Center, featuring a partnership with Bookafest, a fair dedicated to promoting independent authors and startups.

The collaboration will give attendees the opportunity to meet Costa Rican writers, explore their publications, and discover new literary worlds. The initiative seeks to connect the worlds of comics, manga, animation, and video games with fantasy, adventure, and science fiction literature produced in Costa Rica.

Among the participating authors is Le Fernández, known for Essence, Enlace, Silencio, and Única. Andrea Zúñiga, creator of the Aryadians trilogy, and Floria Álvarez, author of the fantasy saga *El regreso de las reinas*, will also participate. Daniel Fernández Masís, founder and organizer of Bookafest, will join the event alongside independent publisher Geniality+, which will showcase several titles from its catalog.

These include Otrevor: Herederos de la luz y las sombras, written by Luis Roberto Rodríguez. Beyond the literary offerings, Comic Con Costa Rica 2026 will welcome international entertainment figures, giving fans the chance to connect with actors and voice performers behind popular franchises.

Among the confirmed guests is Jeff Ward, known for his role in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of *One Piece* and his appearance in the Marvel television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Jennifer English, the voice actress behind Shadowheart in the acclaimed video game Baldur’s Gate 3, will also attend. Her work includes performances in Elden Ring and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

The unique partnership with Bookafest represents an opportunity to introduce Costa Rican literature to audiences who may be more familiar with international comics, television series, and video games. It also provides independent writers and publishers with a platform to promote their creations and engage directly with potential readers.

By incorporating national literary talent into its programming, Comic Con Costa Rica aims to celebrate both international entertainment and the growing creativity of Costa Rica’s independent publishing community, while encouraging new connections between literature and popular culture.
