Usher Returns to Costa Rica and Shares Photos of Guanacaste Getaway

Eight-time Grammy Award winner Usher has returned to Costa Rica, spending several days enjoying the beaches, tropical scenery, and luxury resorts of Guanacaste before sharing highlights of his vacation with millions of social media followers. The American R&B star visited us from October 20 to 24 according to Costa Rica’s General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners. His trip took him to the Papagayo Peninsula, one of the best-known luxury tourism destinations.

Usher, whose hits include Yeah!, U Got It Bad, Burn, and My Boo, shared photographs and videos on Instagram showing how he spent his time along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. The posts feature the singer enjoying sunsets over the ocean, playing golf, relaxing by the water, and taking part in outdoor adventures. In one photograph, he stands in the ocean with a woman as the sun sets behind them. Other images show him surrounded by Guanacaste’s tropical vegetation and coastal mountains.

He also shared footage of himself ziplining through the trees, dancing on the beach, and enjoying a swimming pool overlooking the surrounding landscape. During his visit, Usher reportedly stayed at Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, an exclusive resort on the Papagayo Peninsula that opened in February 2025.

The property was the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve to open in Central and South America. Its rooms, suites, and villas offer views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding tropical dry forest. The resort also received international recognition in September 2026 when the Michelin Guide promoted it from two to three Michelin Keys, its highest distinction for hotels.

Nekajui was the only hotel in the Americas newly awarded three Michelin Keys in the 2026 selection. It joined Nayara Springs, located near La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, as one of two Costa Rican hotels holding the distinction. The Papagayo Peninsula is also home to the Ocean Course, an 18-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. The course overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Bahía de Culebra, offering golfers views of the coastline and surrounding forest.

Usher’s latest visit came shortly after his 48th birthday on October 14. No official reason for the trip has been announced. This was not the singer’s first vacation in Costa Rica as Usher previously visited during the 2012 holiday season, arriving on December 30 and departing on January 6, 2013, according to immigration records reported at the time.

During that trip, he celebrated New Year’s Eve at Dolce nightclub in Guachipelín, Escazú, surprising guests with his appearance. He traveled with family and friends, including music executive Scooter Braun, who shared photographs from their Costa Rican vacation. More than 13 years later, Usher’s return has once again brought international attention to Guanacaste, with his social media posts offering followers a look at the beaches, outdoor activities, and upscale resorts that have made the region a popular destination for international visitors.
