The United States Embassy will host a group of 50 new Peace Corps volunteers at a ceremony to be held at the ambassador’s residence in Escazú, according to an embassy press release.
“That’s the biggest group we’ve had in over a decade,” said Terry Grumley, director of the Peace Corps in Costa Rica.
The volunteers, ages 22 to 28 and graduates in subjects ranging from psychology and social work to finance, will work on several projects to aid communities over the course of their two-year commitments.
The projects will be coordinated with the Child Welfare Office (PANI), the National Community Development Office (DGDC), and the Economic Development Community, among other local and nongovernmental organizations.
