Costa Rica’s Tennis Tournament: La Copa del Café

‘La Copa del Café’ (Coffee Bowl) will begin on January 23 and until the 28 at the Costa Rica Country Club in Escazú.

This 58th edition will be played with the public in the stands, which could not occur in 2021 due to the pandemic and the restrictions implemented by the Ministry of Health.

The Coffee Bowl has been one of the best junior tennis tournaments in the world. It is an ITF Grade 1 Tournament and has delighted all tennis fans in the country. Each year, it features the best junior players, whose talent and passion ignite an exciting atmosphere in every game.

A total of 64 players (men and women) will compete. The Costa Rican Tennis Federation announced that the country would be represented by its best-ranked tennis players.

Nicole Alfaro and Adrián Quirós are the Costa Ricans battling with the support of all Ticos.

In addition, future international stars of this sport will be present; one of them will be the French player Maelie Monfils, sister of pro tennis star Gael Monfils.

‘La Copa’ was started in 1965 to a group of tennis players who decided to form a Tournament Committee at the Costa Rica Country Club. Throughout the years, they have managed to improve on the competition, making it one of the best junior tennis tournaments.

The Coffee Bowl gained popularity as it offered high-quality tennis matches. Members, sponsors, players, personnel, and fans have made this a one-of-a-kind event in Central America and the Caribbean.

Like every year, attendees can find a mini-fair with food, a Yonex and Fila tennis items exhibition, and other fun activities. Match schedules vary, with daytime games starting at 9:00 a.m. and, during the evening, the first one is set for 5:00 p.m.

Those interested can find tickets on the platform www.eticket.cr. Tickets range from ₡5,000 to ₡9,000. There will be a 2×1 promotion in general and east stands on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
