Universidad Nacional Plans “Sun Day” Celebration

On May 4-5, Sunday won’t be just another day of the week. The Solar Energy Lab at the Physics Department of Universidad Nacional, in Heredia, north of San José, will offer “Día del Sol” exhibitions from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.

Entrance to the exhibition of solar devices, including dryers, water heaters and ovens, is free. The exhibit even includes a solar-powered house, where everything from the television to the microwave oven runs on solar power.

Professor Shyam S. Nandwani of the Solar Energy Lab will give a lecture May 5 at 5 p.m. at the university library, with an entrance fee of ¢2,000 (approximately $4).

The two-hour presentation, in Spanish, will include a question-and-answer session during which questions can be asked and answered in English.

To reserve a spot at the lecture or for more information about the event, contact Nandwani at 277-3482 or snandwan@una.ac.cr. More details are also available at una.ac.acr/fisica/energiasolar.htm.
