Coldplay will play before a capacity crowd in Costa Rica

The biggest concert of the year is about to happen this Friday, March 18 and anticipation is growing with the arrival of 3 of the band’s members Jon Buckland, Will Champion y Guy Berryman.

Unfortunately, tickets to one of the most successful groups of the 21st century and the opening date of its Music of the Spheres World Tour at the National Stadium have been sold out for a while. There are at a least 40,000 people expected at the concert which matches the stadium’s pre-pandemic capacity.

This will be Coldplay’s first tour in nearly five years and it’s first ever show in Costa Rica. Chris Martin and his bandmates will perform old and new tracks including the new single “Higher Power” as well as “My Universe,” which is a BTS collaboration.

The band, which has been one of the best-selling music acts of all time, have also pledged to cut down their carbon emissions by 50% and to plant a tree for every ticket sold for their 2022 eco-friendly world tour — which will feature a dance floor that generates electricity from the crowd’s kinetic energy.

At the time of the announcement of the concert dates on the Live Nation website they added:

“Playing live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.

At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward. We won’t get everything right, but we’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It’s a work in progress and we’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far.

Full details of the tour’s sustainability plans can be found at coldplay.com/sustainability.

After the show in Costa Rica they will be travelling to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, USA, Germany, Poland, France, Belgium and the UK.
