Finance Minister Guillermo Zúñiga was driving to dinner with his wife Wednesday when two armed men stole their car, after forcing the couple out. The thieves threw Zúñiga’s wife on the curb and threatened Zúñiga, although neither was seriously hurt.
The couple was driving a year-old black Toyota Prado that belonged to the Finance Ministry.
Zúñiga filed a report with the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) after the robbery, which took place in the Central Valley town of Belén. Francisco Ruiz, head of the OIJ press office, confirmed the story after the daily Diario Extra reported it yesterday.
