Low-cost carrier Wingo now flies between Costa Rica and Colombia

Low-cost carrier Wingo now offers direct flights between Costa Rica and Colombia.

The budget airline, which is part of the same parent company as Copa, on Tuesday inaugurated its new route between Juan Santamaría International Airport, outside San José, and Bogotá.

The route operates Tuesdays and Fridays between SJO and El Dorado International Airport, which serves Bogotá and its surrounding areas.

Wingo is currently offering promotional pricing of $180 round-trip with taxes included.

While tickets include a carry-on item and personal item, other services and amenities cost extra. Additional bags start at $26.25 each, priority boarding is $5, and checking in at the airport will run you $5.25. Seats are randomly assigned or can be reserved starting at $10.

Wingo previously operated flights between San José and destinations in Guatemala and Panama.

In addition to Wingo, Avianca also offers direct flights between Costa Rica and Colombia.
