Costa Rica anticipating stadium sellout in Uruguay friendly

The Costa Rican Soccer Federation (FEDEFUTBOL) says 13,000 tickets have been sold so far to next Friday’s men’s soccer friendly against Uruguay.

The organization said an average of 2,000 tickets per day have been sold since both countries announced their rosters and is anticipating a sellout crowd.

La Sele summoned veteran stars including Keylor Navas, Celso Borges, Bryan Ruíz and Joel Campbell.

“Playing against Uruguay will always be a pride because they have a great team, but as a coach of Costa Rica, I want to win the game,” said manager Gustavo Matosas.

“We have players with a lot of experience and who are the basis of our side, as well as some young people to make an interesting mix of experience with youth.”

The game will be played at Estadio Nacional, which was inaugurated in 2011 with a capacity for 35,000 people. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at specialticket.net, authorized Servimás stalls, Hard Rock Café and Grupo Mutual locations. In addition, the National Stadium box office will sell tickets Sept. 5-6.

Prices start at 8,000 colones (about $14).
