‘Come to Limón’: Costa Rica launches tourism campaign for Caribbean

The Costa Rican government has launched “Come to Limón: ¿Qué te nace hacer en el Caribe?,” a tourism campaign intended to boost local tourism to Limón.

According to Casa Presidencial, the campaign highlights the province’s cultural diversity, gastronomy and various tourist attractions.

“The Caribbean has the capacity to develop tourism and generate economic reactivation that is so important for its citizens,” said Marvin Rodríguez, Second Vice President of Costa Rica and director of Mesa Caribe, an effort to improve infrastructure, security and job opportunities in Limón.

“The richness in flora and fauna, multiculturalism and the combination of mountains, rivers and seas is an incomparable strength for the development of the region.”

The Limón tourism push will complement the nationwide “Vamos a Turistear” campaign, which encourages Costa Ricans to experience unique destinations within their own country.

“Come to Limón” has nearly $200,000 in funding, which will be used to sponsor television commercials, targeted social media posts, and advertisements on buses, radio and in movie theaters.

“Limón has enormous potential for tourism development,” said Andrea Centeno, Executive President of the Board of Port Administration and Economic Development of the Atlantic Coast (JAPDEVA). “We celebrate these important steps to make known its beauty.

“Efforts like these are added to ongoing projects — such as the new cruise and marine terminal — that seek to boost opportunities for the province.”
