Costa Rica hosts International Ballet Festival at National Theater

The National Theater served as the backdrop for the inaugural International Ballet Festival of Costa Rica, held last weekend at the iconic venue.

The festival — the first of its kind in Costa Rica — included performances from several international ballet groups and featured cultural activities, conferences and classes.

Among the international guests were Washington Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Sarasota Cuban Youth Ballet Company, La Jovem Companhia de Ballet de Leiria, Portugal, el Ballet de Santiago de Chile, and Ballet Nacional de Panamá.

For its part, the National Ballet of Costa Rica performed “Dracula.” Several other ballet academies and dance studios from across the country were represented.

“A great weekend full of ballet, international stars and wonderful audiences at each of the events,” National Ballet of Costa Rica shared. “It was an incredible experience.”
